Grace Nugent is a second-year staffer on The Shield and it is her first year on the editorial board serving as sports and co-online editor in chief. Nugent’s uber-competitive nature and love for the hunt of a good story is the reason she joined MacJournalism. Another big part is her favorite advisor (whom she stresses out constantly) Mr. Dave Winter or DW as he is so affectionately known. She can debate with anyone over football or baseball (specifically about how the Patriots cheated) and how Top Gun is one of the best movies of all time. Here’s the skinny; her favorite part about being on staff is all the crazy late Knight shenanigans (specifically with Elisha), the two-hour-long editor meetings, and writing stories that incite an Instagram comment war . In her free time, when she is not photographing a football game or fighting with InDesign, she enjoys hanging out with friends (pre-COVID of course), playing sports, laughing while watching SNL, and eating HEB sushi. Since COVID has struck she enjoys reading in her hammock, doing yoga, and watching baseball.
