Welcome to our World Photo Day celebration gallery

Inspired by the pros at National Geographic, we asked our staff to select a favorite MacJ image and explain why it stands out to them

Aug. 19 was World Photography Day. Inspired by a National Geographic Instagram series in which photographers selected a favorite photo by a peer, we asked our staff to pick a favorite photo from the MacJ archive and explain why they love it. Originally, we only posted a couple on the Macjournalism Instagram account, but as more and more pictures were picked, we felt it was only appropriate to make a whole gallery here as a historic Tuesday Top 10 that would also serve as an archive of some our staff members ‘ all-time favorite MacJ images. Although World Photography Day has passed, we would like to think that our carefully curated, nostalgia-evoking gallery will stand the test of time.

If we have left out a photograph that you believe should be here, leave a comment to let us know why you love that picture, and we will add it to this collection.
