Alex Dowd

Alex Dowd, A&E editor, copy editor

The 2019-2020 school year marks senior Alex Dowd’s second year both on The Shield staff and at McCallum. This year she was given the position of A&E editor and copy editor due to her immense passion for inserting her opinion into nearly every situation. Alex’s greatest challenge in journalism is remaining objective, but thanks to Mr. Winter’s guidance she’s really improving. When she isn’t writing for The Shield, Alex enjoys arguing, questioning authority and baking. In the future, Alex plans to continue with journalism and maybe gather a few more cats along the way, but for now, she is doing her best. Viva la resistance!

TEXAS BLUES: Now more than ever, Congressman Chris Bell believes that the influx of new residents in Texas will help to make the longstanding Republican state a swing state. He also believes that the current direction of the country will inspire Democrats to show up to vote in much higher numbers. “I can’t stand the direction of this country,” he said, “but Donald Trump has been incredibly influential for the Democratic Party.” Photo by Alex Dowd.
