Working on The Shield does have its advantages! Especially when the staff is invited to meet Hollywood star Gregory Peck.

Three seniors were among the high school journalists and local amusements editors who met and interviewed Mr. Peck when he was in Austin for the February Headliners Banquet.

Maye Adey, Diane Feuerbacher and Sandra Sanders attended the Saturday session at the Driskill Hotel and came away with glowing reports—about Mr. Peck.

“He’s better looking in person than in the movies,” Sandra insists.

One of Sandra’s inquiries—”Does it embarrass you to play love scenes in front of the cameras?”—drew this answer from the long-time box office star:

“It doesn’t embarrass me, but it’s not like the real thing!”

The girls got his autograph but have trouble deciphering the word “Gregory.”

Both Diane and Maye agree that seeing and meeting Mr. Peck was a “wonderful” experience.
