PHOTO TIME: Senior Kai Layden dances with friends at senior prom. Layden’s prom was an opportunity to reflect on high school.

“It was wonderful to be all together after four years of watching each other grow,” he said. “The night represented a time of unity through a special event that we’ve been looking forward to for months. Seeing everybody dancing together all as one, it was beautiful.”

Layden took pictures with his personal camera to capture the memory of the night.

“I do it to remember my friends,” he said. “Core memories were unlocked that night, and I’ll remember them forever.”

Layden said there was no best “part” of prom– just the whole night.

“There was no one particular best moment,” he said. “All of it was great. Everybody that was there made it special.”

DANCING QUEENS: Seniors Sage Flowers and Isadora Lang share a dance at senior prom. Flowers said the night reflected her friendship with Lang.

“I became friends with her the day before my first day of senior year,” she said. “We were doing car decorating, and that was the first time I talked to her. We had some classes together this year and it was great to see her at the dance.”

Flowers also said senior year was an opportunity to meet new people.

“Senior year, it’s fun to become friends with new people,” she said. “Maybe it’s someone you never even talked to in your first three years. I think there’s so much opportunity to reach out to people and embrace the people in your class.”

Flowers said that although the dance was great, prom was an entire day more than a moment.

“I started at 8 a.m.,” she said. “The day was very long and full of wonderful moments. My favorite part was going to a friend’s house afterwards. We jumped in the pool with our hair and makeup done, but we didn’t care because we were too busy having fun.”

KING AND QUEEN: Seniors Dylan Fissel and Emily Spigner take a photo together after winning Prom King and Queen. Fissel, who has also won Mr. McCallum and Homecoming King, says the love for running for royalty is community-based.

“I love to create a good community around myself and give the best representation to the people I care about,” Fissel said.

FOREVER FRIENDS: Senior Ava Dallesandro poses with friends at senior prom. Dallesandro said the night was successful because of the participation.

“Everybody was talking to everybody,” she said. “It’s a big moment for all the seniors, everybody was constantly in conversation and having so much fun. Everyone I talked to, I wanted a picture with. I’m graduating in a month, so yes, of course I’d love a picture.”

Dallesandro also said what made the night special was seeing everybody she’s known for years all in one place.

“It was great to see everybody so happy, all dressed up in their suits and dresses,” she said. “I love that everybody was feeling confident and showed their true selves in their outfits and on the dance floor.”

Dallesandro emphasized that the most special part of the night was her closest friends.

“I went with the perfect group,” she said. “I had so much fun with my friends, and we really made it the perfect night. We did a great job of planning everything out and truly made the most out of a night that was bound to be perfect.”
