RAIN? NO, MAKE THAT REIGN: While flash floods earlier in the day quite literally threatened to dampen the outdoor prom, the event went on as scheduled, and by all accounts was a smashing success. Senior class sponsor Amy Smith secured a covered warehouse area to retreat to and a class set of rain ponchos if the weather forced prom goers to seek cover, but the rain ended up being more of a trilfle than a tragedy. “I can honestly say that was the best prom ever and the kids were so great,” Smith reported on the McCallum senior parents Facebook page. “They were so polite and appreciative. Absolutely no problems at all. They were perfect and we had a blast.” Principal Nicole Griffith echoed that sentiment telling MacJournalism Saturday night that it was a great night for the senior class and the school community. We are pleased to share the first of what we suspect will be multiple prom galleries. Photo by Esme Moreno.

Rain? No make that reign (May 2021) by Esme Moreno

Knight photo editor Anna Bausman chose this image of the 2021 Mask-erade at Stubb’s Ampitheater on May 1, 2021, captured by Esme Moreno.

“I really like the photo because it represented a kind of return to normalcy,” Anna said. “The entire year was so crazy, but I was just so happy that the seniors of 2021 were able to have this one event that made a unique year normal. I love the lighting of the photo and how it really captured the excitement of the night.”
