After eight years of service to the Austin Independent School District, Officer Rocco retired on Thursday.
Officer Hulk and his human partner, John Yoder, completed their first day of training on campus on Friday.
Prior to his present assignment as a K-9 officer, Officer Yoder was a patrol officer with the Giddings Police Department for two years. He has worked for AISD now for four years. He had the night shift at McCallum and Fulmore Middle School, and this year switched to day shift and started working full time as a K-9 officer.
“Rocco is in dog paradise,” Officer Mike Reilly said of Rocco’s retirement after eight years of service.
According to Reilly, Rocco was responsible for more than 1,000 finds and hundreds of presentations. Rocco is now in full retirement and is living with his loving owner Officer Tony Andrew, who is now working as an officer at ACC.
All of us at MacJournalism wish Rocco a happy and restful retirement with lots of treats.
